My name is Tyler, and I'm a paleontologist, artist, scientific educator, and director of the University of Wyoming Coe Student Innovation Center makerspace.

As an artist and educator, my love of storytelling and visual narratives are rich sources of inspiration for both my artwork and how I enjoy presenting information. My goal is to kindle that imaginative, creative spark and perhaps ignite in others the same passion I have for science, technology, and of course tabletop games. To me, there's a great thrill in finding creative or unconventional ways to present complex information.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy creating content for my own tabletop games, or for the immersive worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. To see those games, click here.

I received a B.A. in Geosciences from Franklin & Marshall College in 2011 and an M.S. in Geology from the University of Wyoming in 2017, with a focus in cetacean paleoecology. Throughout my Master's, I worked as a scientific educator and content designer for the University of Wyoming Geological Museum. At the same time, I worked under the UW Libraries Digital Collections Office to digitize and model notable specimens from UW's fossil collection. It was through these two jobs that I caught the digital design bug and fell in love with 3D modeling.

In addition to my role in the CSIC, I'm working as a freelance educational content creator for the University of Wyoming Geological Museum, where I'm exploring the use of augmented reality as a means to entertain and inform visitors. You can read more about that project here.

Following my Master's, I joined the Coe Library as director of the CSIC, where I currently teach K-12, college students, and members of the UW community about the wonderfully diverse multidisciplinary applications of a makerspace. Though the CSIC offers everything from 3D modeling to robotics to CAD design, my expertise lies with 3D printing, sculpting, and modeling. To learn more about my role as a maker, click here.
